Remodeling done the way it should have been done the first time.
Custom tile showers, kitchens, basements, siding and decks, built by Alec Schwindt, who is on your job site every day it is running. Free estimates, straight answers, and work that still looks right in ten years.
A kitchen opened up and rebuilt
New cabinetry to the ceiling, granite counters wrapping a peninsula with seating for four, a built-in banquette in the bay window, and a coffee bar built into the wall that used to be wasted space. Alec also laid the plank flooring through the living and dining area and built the stair railing.
The hands behind every job
Alec Schwindt has been building things since he was young, and he has never gotten it out of his system. He is a Kansas native, married to Ana, and together they are raising their baby right here in Augusta.
Alec and Ana have also opened their home to foster children, and they serve in their local church community. That is the same heart he brings onto a job site: show up when you said you would, do it right when no one is watching, and treat every home like it matters.
When you hire IronWood, Alec is the one who walks your project, gives you the number, and swings the hammer. There is no salesman, no crew you have never met, and no phone tree.
I can not say enough great things about Alec and his work. His skill and craftsmanship are second to none. The project was completed on time and it was even better than we imagined! Our home was left clean both during and after the project. Alec completely captured our vision and I feel confident that his work will stand the test of time.
Build it once, and build it to be handed down
There is a version of every job that is cheaper. There is also a version that is still doing its job long after the people who paid for it have moved on. Alec builds the second one, because a house is not a thing you should have to buy twice.
The cheapest bid gets paid for twice
Work done cheap almost never fails right away. It fails in year four, and by then you are not paying for one remodel, you are paying for demolition, disposal, and the entire job over again. Spread across the years you actually live there, doing it properly the first time is usually the less expensive decision. It just does not look that way on the estimate.
Some materials age, others just wear out
Real stone, solid wood and honest hardware get better looking with time. The budget versions are printed, hollow or laminated to imitate them, and they do not age at all, they simply start peeling and chipping. Alec will tell you where spending more genuinely buys you decades, and just as often where it does not and you should save the money.
The decades are bought where nobody looks
Nobody ever compliments the waterproofing behind a shower, the flashing over a window, the framing behind a wall or the footings under a deck. Those are exactly the places corners get cut, because no customer can see them and no problem shows up for years. They are also the only reason anything is still standing in thirty years, so they do not get skipped here.
